Frodo Baggins (the Ring-bearer)
Samwise "Sam" Gamgee
Meriadoc "Merry" Brandybuck
Peregrin "Pippin" Took
So that's Frodo (1), Sam (2), Merry (3), and Pippin (4).
Although one could argue that Gollum (Sméagol) was with the Fellowship for most of the journey and although he was not a member of the fellowship he did in a sense "join" them. If you count Gollum then there would be 5 Hobbits. If you don't count him there would be four.
Bilbo Baggins offered to be part of the fellowship but Frodo took his place as Bilbo was very old indeed (well over 100 years old) at the time. So Bilbo was not a member of the fellowship of the Ring.

Four: Frodo Baggins (nephew of Bilbo), Sam (Samwise Gamgee), Merry (Meriadoc Brandybuck) & Pippin (Peregrine Took).
Bilbo, though in Rivendell, was not part of the fellowship, and (contrary to someone's comment earlier) not only was Smeagol not part of the fellowship (he didn't "join" Frodo & Sam until after the fellowship was broken) but he wasn't a hobbit. He is described as being a creature "like" a hobbit.
(Why is this in Mythology & Folklore? It's true Tolkien based much of Middle Earth on Norse mythology but he invented hobbits all by himself.)

There were 4 who joined the fellowship. Frodo, Samwise, Merry, and Pippen. Bilbo was the one who brought the ring to the Shire but he was not apart of the fellowship.
