Normally, as it indicates a type of driver who doesn't learn from his mistakes. You will be required to appear in court because that is the rule when you are a candidate for disqualification and you could try arguing reasons of special hardship before the court. I know that benches in rural areas where people just can't cope without wheels are more inclined to use their discretion than courts in areas with plenty of public transport facilities. You don't say over what period you accumulated these points - that might have some effect upon the reasoning of the magistrate(s). It is quite possible to be banned for only two weeks as a rap on the knuckles. But yes, in principle you do deserve to be banned and on no account should drive yourself to court. It is quite common for the police to keep an eye on people who have been banned in case they are seen driving off after being disqualified, in which case they can arrest them for driving while disqualified.

unless you can prove hardship (eg MUST have a car for work) then yes 12 points = a ban. personally i think it should be 6 months

not necessarily. By the law you should be banned but the police the way they are you can pay them £2,000 (I think that much) if speeding offences ofcourse & not be banned. The fuzz call it letting off while I like to call it bribary.
