My wife is 18 weeks along and has had trouble putting on weight, nothing life threatening... just nausea and such. This past month I have been trying to majorly encourage her to eat well and more often. I think she has put on a few, BUT so have I... I have put on probably 10 or 12 pounds since she found out she was pregnant, 4 months ago. HELP!

You are perfectly normal!! You are probably eating right along with some of her cravings that aren't so healthy and eating more frequently because food is on your mind. You might not be as active and don't get out as often as you used to and are staying home and being comfortable trying to relax. Believe me when that baby comes along you will be movin and a groovin!! Good Luck!!

I'm not sure what the reason behind it is, but I think it's pretty normal. My husband gained weight during both my pregnancies...not an incredible amount, but enough that it bothered him a bit. But then when I had the boys he ended up losing the weight. He didn't even have to try it just sort of fell off lol.

It's called sympathy weight.

Dads-to-be pile on the pounds, too. At least in monkeys.

They gained an average extra 10% of their body weight during pregnancy:

Yes, it is normal especially if you are in tune to your wife and you two are really close. My boyfriend put on a few pounds too until he went back to work (he's a truck driver). Try walking together to prevent both of you from gaining too much.

LOl. Yeah thats normal. Sympathy weight. Tell her to eat saltine crackers, take out the trash for her and make sure the house smells good. I think my husband used an apple pie candle.

From what I have read, it is normal for the hubby to gain weight. My soon to be wife is 12 weeks pregnant and I have gained weight.

yep...my hubby did...in the case of our first son he actually put on MORE weight than I did (but I only put on 17 lbs with our first) but withy subsequent pregnancies he's finding the baby weight is hard to get off...(like I didn't know this??? hehehe)

If she's having problems with nausea try either saltines or some drug stores carry preggy pops that are supposed to be amazing in helping with the nausea.

I'm not sure what causes this, but for some reason, it happens a LOT. Men very frequently gain weight with their pregnant wives. Stress, maybe?
