Can you say these words?
Hi welcome to walmart.....
You would see people and greet them. Sounds fun to me.
If that don't work, then work on the golf course as a starter. I assume you are not trying to make a lot of money as you retired but need something to do with your time.

A lot depends on what you did before. Many retirees take jobs at McDonald's and Wall-Mart. They have flexible schedules and the pay scale doesn't interfere with retirement too much. You can also look into your old job. Perhaps you could do something there on a more part-time basis.
58 isn't particularly old for an employee and there is a little thing called age discrimination.
You need to start thinking of yourself as experienced.

You are right. But then, we should be able to choose a job that will be exclusive to us. For example nobody can equal the type / amount of unique experience that you have gained over the years. Please try to CAPITALIZE on them. The different options are : You may take up a job in the area of training youngsters in your area of expertise. You can attempt writing a book on your experiences. You can join a more closer Professional Organisation ( non profit ) relating to your education / work area where getting a job may be a little easier. Or you may even completely change your line of work and start attempting to do a new job which you were longing to do for a long time. Now you will have experience , courage and maturity to be able to switch over to a new line which probably you might not have thought of attempting during your career. So, start your second innings with enthusiasm . You will definitely land in your dream job!

You are a blessing to many here! Please consider a combination of duties and you will feel that blessing.
If you have a special area of expertise, consider teaching or mentoring at an elementary school or trade school. One or two days a week as a special lector would be a great addition. We have one at our elementary school and the kids love him! If not, how about a light duty at a local golf course or library? Perks are good and workload is light.
The other half is volunteering. You would be a great blessing to a food pantry, since you are in good health and have energy. Any volunteer position would give you an inner "wage" of peace and offer you an opportunity to pay back what you have been blessed with in a short time. Check with hospitals, school districts and special education organizations for a one or two day per week volunteer position....they will love you for it, so will God!

You probably realize that you can make more money working for yourself than you can working for someone else so I encourage you to review your skills and experience to place yourself in the best possible business. You may wish to consider consulting, teaching, writing, selling on commission, website design, maintenance or whatever you enjoy and have a background in. Why not make 100% profits after taxes and expenses instead of the small percentage that an employer will pay you???

If you're an engineer, especially a mechanical engineer, you would have no problem finding a job in aerospace as they are desperate for experienced engineers.
My husband is 57 and he retired 2 years go and the company he worked for called him back and asked him to come back to work, and he was able to name his price and he only works 2 days a week!
That's not true that places only hire younger people, as older people are more reliable and harder workers and employers prefer mature adults over cocky, immature kids!

I don't know what you did for work, but if you were a teacher you could apply for a substitute teacher. Or if you were a craftsman then maybe you could teach you craft at a vocational night school.
And the there is always the Wall-mart greeters job or a fast food chain job for minimum wages. The fast food chains can't rely on the kids so having a steady adult is more to their liking.

Check out career development websites. Some have interest inventories and maybe you can match a career with your personality type. Most of us work and retire from careers that were incompatible to who we are. Maybe now its time for you to do what you naturally like to do....~~~~W
