Hey Danny,
Yesterday, for the first time, finally the words were put on paper. Not just study of patterns or timing, but real poetry. Once begun, the ideas, well, it was difficult to keep the fingers typing as fast as the thoughts and words were popping into my head.
Once you shut your eyes and imagine your next work, and see a tree, a beach, young lovers, animals, or still live, the ideas will start flowing by this simple act of beginning the drawing. You will not be able to keep up with them.
Look around you, are there scenes from your life? Could you go outside and see something, someone, or a landscape, city scape or river? Start with a blade of grass, and the drawing will come to you.

Not an idea to draw but an inspiring song:
Criminologist It's just a jump to the left
Chorus And then a step to the right
Criminologist With your hands on your hips
Chorus You bring your knees in tight
But it's the pelvic thrust
That really drives you insane
Let's do the Time Warp again
Let's do the Time Warp again

I normally see inspiration things when I am out driving or walking, I take pictures with a small digital camera - I also cut things out of mags or books when I see them. I make notes when I think of idea s. All of which I keep in a file box, then when I am lacking in inspiration, that is where I go to. Otherwise, yes music helps, and a square frame, wander around framing stuff, and its surprising what you will find. Or while you are waiting for inspiration, a self portrait, just in case you become famous, most artists do! Hope this helps - Good luck!

Still life? Draw a self portrait of you thinking.
Or, you could draw your lack of creative juices' flow. Draw a wall, or a dead end or something - show us how you interpret this block that you're facing.

Trawl through magazines - see what takes your eyes. Charity shops sell second hand mags for a fraction original price. Build up a scrap book of images that please you - even if it is just the combination of colours. This will teach you to analyse pictures.
Your own hand, foot, the cat, a flower but do it fast, don't try and copy.
