The good ones are booked weeks in advance. Just keep trying.

Contractor here.......and I'll address your question. First and foremost, the people that I get in construction work and repairs are typically not the brightest folks around. Lack of education, no motivation, drugs, alcohol, you name it, I deal with it. That's why so many contractors are using Hispanic workers now, because they'll work and show up every day. That said, the better contractors can make more money by working on large projects, such as commercial construction followed by new home construction. The next tier works in remodeling. The repair contractors, quite frankly, are typically the guys that aren't that good and couldn't keep a job in the upper tiers of construction. Now there are many qualified repair contractors, but they're few and far between. So when you find one, stick with them and be willing to pay them well. If there was more money to be made in repair work, then you'd see more qualified workers vying for your business.

Honey,if you get an answer to that please share it with me.I have the worst luck with contractors.I think most of them are simply to lazy to hold a regular job that would require them to actually show up everyday.
