I want to deposit money in my checking account with Washington Mutual, but they don't have any branches near my town. Can I deposit it in any ATM using my Debit Card and have the money reach my account?

I don't know why everybody saying no. They should say maybe. There is a new thing called shared deposit coming about. Both your banks atm and the banks atm your are using must support these types of transactions and your bank must support this type of transaction.

Usually you will need to do this deposit at an ATM that will be located at the banks branch (not the free standing atms)

That is not going to work if the debit card is also with Washington Mutual. If it is with a different bank transfer the money across.

Try getting an internet based banking account or changing your bank.

No, it should be Washington Mutual's ATM (including shared deposit ATM for that matter).

I assume you want to deposit checks, so you can do it by mail. Although some banks have special forms, even if you write a free form letter to your bank, indicating your account number, that'll do

I believe that you cannot. I have asked that question at a bank and they said NO... Buy a money order and or get that Trans Union you can do that at like a store Price Chopper etc... Your bank call and see how you can do it. open another checking account around where you are now and if you need to send the mony to your new bank there you go.

Some banks belong to networks that allow you to make deposits to any ATM that is part of that network. You would have to check with WAMU to see if they do. It is more likely that they would not.
