It happens to the best of us. I was a Girl Guide leader and once mistyped Girl Guides and got a wild porn site that no one should see. The porn sites link to mispelled common sites and the next thing you know ... you are in porn hell and your home page is trapped and the back buttons are trapped.

This is one you should let go. "I personally believe that if you took porn off the Internet, there would be only one site and that would be 'bring back the porn' (Perry Cox, Scrubs)
Simple fact is that porn is huge. Real huge. Just the film business, from the professional company's that show real numbers is a 13 billion dollar a year industry. That is 13 million, million. If there was no porn, the Internet would not have taken off, you would not have VCR or DVDs.
The history of porn is an amazing and complex history that is wonderful to read about and amazing to learn.
Now just because you do not agree, I don't personally think that you should have the power to govern over what other people get to do. Your morality should have no influence over mine.
Now, all of this does not answer you question I know. I was just giving you a little back ground. But yes I have found that I can type something benign into a web search and get some interesting sites. But I don't think they are crap. And i don't think you have anything to worry about.
It's a great big interesting world out there. The more you close your eyes, the more you are going to miss it.

Yeah, I've stumbled across porn . . . *cough* *cough* . . . okay, okay, I've purposely sought it out like Indiana Jones on a quest for the Holy Grail.
Anyhow, yes, I know the phenomenon you're talking about, which is to say that anywhere from thirty to ninety percent of ANY Internet search done is going to include links to porn. Doesn't matter how innocent the search is- it'll be there. Did you know that some porn sites copy and paste entire online dictionaries into their HTML code so that search engines will deliver them to you regardless? It's quite insidious.
As to accidentally tripping over illegal underage pornography, I wouldn't be too worried. It happens to a lot of people, and the Feds are looking for repeat offenders, because you can accidentally find yourself on such a website once, maybe even twice, but more than that, and it's going to start arousing suspicion. Although I don't doubt you, though, are you sure it was underage? You'd be surprised how popular the young-girl look is, and a lot of porn is that 'barely legal' stuff- models who are 18, but look far younger. I'm not saying you should go back, but think about what you saw and if it was undeniably underage. If you are very worried about this, if you remember the site (or look it up in your browser history, but don't click on it again), report it. Not only will that help get rid of such stuff, but it will 'clear your name', so to speak. Send your tips to http://www.missingkids.com/cybertip/.
Good luck and I hope you have no problems.

I've also had something like that happen to me. You type in one thing on google and then you get sites which have that subject you typed in + porn added in.
I actually looked up the laws in regards to porn and the internet. You cannot get arrested for visiting a porn site that has something like kids on it (like it happened to you). This is probably because it happens a lot that you are looking for something not porn related and then BOOM, illegal-porn is all over your PC. It happens a lot I hear so they only can arrest you or such if you download illegal porn and then show it to others. Otherwise they'd be arresting people all the time even though the person probably just visited the site by accident.

i have had similar sorts of results porn comes up when i was looking for something totally different. I have also seen some sites that i myself think must be illegal but i suppose there not
i suspect that unless a person was to repeatedly go to such a site instead of a one time accidental stubble on it then no police would be bothered by it .
i do know that if you see some stuff on the computer that you are sure is illegal the police do have a desire to learn of it.
myself i would not use my computer to tell them instead i would
call them from a pay phone so i didn't get tangled in some net when all i did was the right thing

If I was you I would write down the date and time that it was there so if anything came back you had taken the time to write it down for sort of evidence that it was a mistake. I think they tend to target people who are looking at it repeatedly so if it was a one off I reckon you will be ok. It's sick what is on the internet these days.

If you went to an unlawful site by accident your computer records would show that you left the site right away.
I have often ended up on 'adult' sites but not unlawful ones. Close it right away and do not log on to these sites as they often have a virus
