Ooooohhhhhh...don't know where to start. One thing I'd like to say though....and I've never heard it said before.....is one of the best was Richard Carpenter in 'Goodbye to Love'. Makes me go goosey every time. And I'm into Hendrix.........
I agree with Rocky too.....Neil Young's solos suck. And they go on and on and on........

Great solos abound. Ever thing from Ted Nugent Journey to the center of your mind (remember he was only 17 at the time) to Clapton, Hendrix, Zappa, the list goes on and on. THe worst for me is anything by Neil Young. Not necessarily the songs. Just the solos..

Definitely ERUPTION...also the solo he did in the Michael Jackson tune on Thriller.

how about the 3 different solos going on in the live version of freebird by leonard skynard. eruption is most likely the best ever, but i wonder how many takes it took to do. but live is live.

One that has always raised the hair on the back of my neck - and mind you, not for speed, volume or difficulty - is the short one in Toto's "I Won't Hold You Back Now."
Part of it is the chord sequence. The other is the intense emotion and phrasing.
I've played for 40+ years.......

worst..., or meaningless...-anything by frampton, also U2
eruption is not that great, its just scaling that sounds great because its fast
