Use Ccleaner to remove MacAffee, its easier.
Open Ccleaner.
From the list on the left click the Tools button.
Look for MAcAffee on the list of installed programs.
Click the Uninstall button at the top right of the page.
Let it uninstall the program.
Then go to the list on the left and select the Issues button.
Click it.
Tick all the boxes in the main window.
Click the 'Fix selected issues' button.
When it offers to back up the registry click Yes, just in case.
Let it fix all the selected issues.
Finally, click the Cleaner button from the left.
Click Analyse at the bottom of the page.
Click Run Cleaner. Use this every day for a faster pc.

You'll need to make sure none of the McAfee security programs are running in order to uninstall it. You can try doing it in Safe Mode. If that doesn't get all of it, go to McAfee's site for the uninstall tool:
http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/displayDoc.asp?frames=1&docID=408302¶m1=246&HotTopic=YES
Make sure you have downloaded the replacement security products you plan to use, so you can install them before going back online.
CCleaner is an excellent tool. On the main page, decide whether you want to keep any of your Internet Explorer or Windows Explorer temp files, e.g. history, cookies, lists of recently used items or folders. You're safest leaving the System section checked and the Advanced section unchecked. Don't worry about the Applications tab, the defaults there are fine. Then hit Run Cleaner (or Analyze if you want to see what will be removed before you commit). The Issues section lets you clean up invalid registry entries, such as references to the files you just deleted -- ALWAYS let CCleaner backup the changes, just in case. You can ignore the other sections while you get up to speed.
