I like them both: in American animation I give advantage in coloring and setting fundamental bases of action, and Japanese takes credit for ingenious character design, mecha and other subgenres. Also, I consider Japanese stile of drawing more interesting because of those specific stylization. On the other hand, American animation is rich in variety of characters visual appearance.....

American animation is meant for humor and children mostly, and usually has a complete story told in 5 minutes.

Japanese animation is meant for anyone, and as such, some rough material is there, since Japanese TV is not as strict as American TV. This can allow people to think about "tough stuff".

Also, Japanese animation takes its time in developing the plot, oftentimes taking 20-80 (and in the case of Pokemon, hundreds) of episodes to tell the story.

I like American better. We have a much wider range of characters. The plots and action move along more effortlessly.
Some might say the Japanese are more detailed, but recent American movies have been very technical and realistic.

Japanese animation spends about half their dialog and show time grunting and groaning. Must be for lack of literary talent.

Japenese takes the cake, I think.

American Animation doesn't go far into detail, but they do have some good Cartoon's out there, Like Looney Tunes.

Japanese draw anime characters with huge eyes because
1. large eyes are considered beautiful and exotic
2. they're more expressive

(there was a japanese singer that actually had her eyes widened with surgery. she looks like some sort of weird doodlebug now.)

But anyway, I prefer japanese animation. It's just more interesting to me. Although I do like family guy and futurama just as well.

No, I like Japanese anime better than american. The ones spoken in Japanese sound better but the ones spoken in English sound like crap.

It depends on the series. I love Disney animations (it was a great loss to artdom when they decided to move into 3D only) and Osamu Tezuka's works.
