Hi! I just came off the pill after four years, about six months ago. About a month and a half later I got my first period. I was actually surprised because I had read that some women it can take MONTHS,or up to a year to get your first period. I got my P three more consecutive times, consistent with my regular cyle length before ever having been on the pill, and then I was due again the day before christmas eve,and I never got it. So apparently even though you become regular again it can go haywire again until your body rids itself of all the hormones. (there is a slight change I might be pregnant, but regardless, the same rules and such apply even if you're not, having been on B.C. so long) So no worries! :)

I came off the pill in July after 4 years to try for a baby. Had 3 periods before I conceived but they were so irregular- usually a week late and very short. After 8 yrs on the pill it will take your body some time to get back to a 'natural' cycle.

i came off the pill on oct 1st 2006 after being on it for 8 years also. my first period came 49 days later, 47 days later my 2nd period arrived, and i'm now on day 22 of my current cycle. the pill can mess your cycle up big time after being on it so long but it should settle down after a few months.
having said that some women find they are at their most fertile straight after coming off bc so its probably a good idea to take a test just to be sure.
if you dont want to be pregnant i dont really understand why you stopped taking your pill, maybe you should go back on it or some other form of contraception.

It's very common for periods to be irregular for up to a year after coming off the pill. In particular, it may take some time for the first period to come. It is different for every one, so there is no 'normal time' but no need to stress about it. It will happen when your body is ready.

Anytime you start or stop birth control your cycle is going to be off for a bit. Coming off after 8 years you could even miss a few periods or spot for months. Some women experience the shedding of their uterin lining (comes out like a huge fleshy clot) when starting or stopping BC.

that sounds perfectly normal to me
after youve been taking the pill your cycle might change and it could take up to a month for your period to come again
id definatly go to the doctors if it doesnt come though within a month and if you took the pills properly there is basically no chance you could be pregnant so i wouldnt worry
hope everything goes well for you :)

Your body just might need time to adjust to the hormonal changes taking place right now. If it hasn't arrived soon may be a good idea to take a quick test! Good Luck

the hormones need to go back to their normal level and as you have been on the pill for 8 years they may well take their time.
i (daniel j's wife) was on depo provera injection for 6 months a few years ago and it took my body just under 2 years to get back to normal.

when you come off the pill after being on it for so long it throws your hole hormones off so it dose happen that your pattern changes
