I had gotten my navel pierced about a month and two weeks ago. It is still infected. Is that normal? I know that they take a long time to heal but I've never had a previous expierience like this with any of my other piercings taking this long to heal. The infection isn't spreading nor is it causing signifigant pain. It's just annoying. But the main point is. How long does it take for a navel to heal. And Is the length of my infection normal?

Infections are not normal.

What are you using to clean and protect it?

Go see a doctor. You probably have something foreign in the hole (like a thread/lint from your clothes). My son had his nipples pierced and one became infected about a month after he had it pierced. He had gotten bacteria in it from swimming.

No, it should have healed by now. Are you sure it is infected? There is inflammation, redness, pain, pus? Or is it taking too long to heal and it bleeds, but without any of the other symptoms?

If you do have inflammation, redness, etc. you should RUN to see a doctor ASAP. And if it's just that it's taking too long to heal, you should see a doctor too (it can indicate something else).

Either way, go to the doctor.

healing time for navel is about 9 months, but if it's infected it would be the best thing to go to the doctor. and don't go to the pool or the sea for a month or two, nor to get a sun tan, both artificially nor naturally
