Indian cuisine differs significantly depending on where you are in the country. If you are trying to make the dishes yourself, then you might consider Chicken Tikka (chicken in a yogurt based marinate) as a main dish or Palak Paneer (spinach with paneer - a traditional cheese) if you are vegetarian. Rice (with saffron or jeera/cumin seed is nice), Dal (made with lentils), Naan (an unleavened bread) are very typically eaten with the main dishes. It is traditional to serve Indian food with a bit of salad (no dressing), including a hot pepper as well. Condiments are always on the table and include hot pepper sauce, chutney (such as with corriander and coconut) and pickle mixes (such as mango pickle). As for the drink, a lassi (yogurt base) is very refreshing, but if you want something hot, chai (tea made with milk and spiced with cardamon, ginger, clove, black peppercorn and various others to taste) is the way to go. I'm not sure why you need this information, but if you want something easy to make, you might consider a samosa (pastry filled with potatoe, pea and cumin seed). Also easy to make are Dosas (lovely flat bread with various savoury fillings), from Southern India. There are many web sites that have complete recipes. Indian dishes typically have numerous ingredients and steps, but the complex flavor is worth the time and effort.
You might consider looking here http://www.recipesindian.com/ , which specializes in Indian food, for specific recipe ideas, though there are certainly numerous other sites.

I love Indian food. Some I like are
Biryani--rice side dish
Korma--can be either a meat or veggie main
Naan--flat bread
Bajia--potato
I'm sure you'll get better answers from someone from India, though the above are what I love and know how to pronounce.
