I recently had my front windshield replaced and now I've noticed when I put the wipers on the make a lot of noise, like they are scraping against the glass rather than wiping the glass. Could it be a problem with the windshield itself? Or is it the wipers. They never made noises like this before the windshield was replaced. What could it be?

Try replacing your wipers....or.......wipe the rubber blades and the windshield with neat vinegar. Sounds crazy, but there may be traffic film on your wiper blades or manufacturers film on the new windshield. The mild acid in vinegar will remove both. Try not to spill any on the paintwork.

If you still have a problem, go back to the guy who fitted the windshield. Maybe the curvature is too great.

It's difficult to diagnose in a forum, but I suspect that the wiper arm bracket is touching the windshield at some point during the cycle. I would first recommend you replace the wiper blades. Be sure you get the proper size, and that they fit correctly. Sometimes it's best to buy the blades pre-assembled in the holder bracket. If you still hear the screeching noise, take note when you hear it. Is it when they are going up, or down. Then stop them during the noise by turning off the key switch, and inspect the contact of the wiper arm and brackets to the windshield. If you see any other contact except for the blade, you found the problem. If you find that the blades are properly fit, and that the bracket and arms do not contact the windshield, then I would suspect the wiper arm linkage is bent or needs lube. Hope you solve the problem.

It's definitely your wipers. First check and make sure they were reinstalled properly if they removed to replace the windshield. If they're on correctly replace the wiper blades . That will resolve your problem.

Get new wipers and new arms. Glass actually changes shape over time. Your new windshield probably has a little different curve to it.
