A number of years ago I resolved to stop making resolutions and have stuck to it. :)
Seriously? Are you trying to quit smoking? Its a rough haul at first but gets better. I did it years ago, before the gums and patches and such. With all the aids out there now you surely can. But you need a plan and helpers.
Simply quitting is very hard to do. Breaking it down into pieces is easier. You'll want to keep a record, in writing, of your progress. Include the positives of how you feel. A very important point though is to stay away from alcohol and other smokers for a while.
First you can switch to nicotine gum. Despite what they tell you, use the strongest gum possible and follow the use instructions exactly. At the same time, find something to do with your hands to keep them busy when you get an urge to smoke. The urge passes in just a few minutes so it doesn't have to be anything extreme.
In a few weeks you will have broken the first habit, that of smoking itself. You also will be breathing easier. Start walking a little each day during this period and do deep breathing to clear your lungs. You'll need to keep your metabolism up during that time or you will gain weight.
Pay attention to tastes and smells. You are going to find that things taste and smell better.
Once you have broken the first habit, start working on the second. Slowly reduce the amount of gum you chew. Don't simply quit it but reduce it over time. Then switch to the weaker gum and slowly reduce the amount you chew.
This process takes a couple months but it really does work.

I made a resolution in November (so not technically a New years one) but I have stuck to it & will continue until I have completed my quest. I am guessing that you need a hand with the smoking. So here goes it's very simple (for me anyhows) you have too detach yourself and take all the negatives and then take the positives (there are some as you know) and then balance them in your head I think that the negatives will far outweigh the positives. So you now have a negative outlook on smoking then set a day and take it one day at a time. You can do anything if you put your mind to it.

My girl friend has made the resolution to always be right! And she has stuck to that one OK.
As for smoking I am on my third day smoke free and I am doing well. Try it again you know you want to. It is not easy but it is worth it in the end.
If you need help and encouragement i will be happy to be that person. To quit along with someone else makes it a whole lot easier. To be honest I could do with some help. Take a look at my blog on 360 that may be of some use. or email me. YOU CAN DO IT!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!

Only people wish to lead a life with mission and an ambition beyond personal well-being can take a resolution on a new year or in a life. Such people only can stuck to such resolutions. But simple issues like smoking or career aspects involves some vested or personnel interests. Such resolutions need will-power.

Every year, I have promised myself to quit drinking. I don't have a problem with alcohol. I just have a problem with how much I spend on it in a year. Having a couple drinks with the boys on Friday after work may seem like nothing, but think of how much money I'll have after a year of not drinking!!
I lasted ten days, really wanted a drink, had one, hated it, since then, wanting to drink is out of my system and I've been doing okay.

Jaco, Porgie, MJ, i actually and others wrote some letters and some even despatched a petition earlier. It does not help, a pc basically save in mind your question being pronounced and get rid of it. We also utilized for a SA section, yet Y/A do not have team in SA, so for this reason they received't supply us our own website. My ideal suggestion is to submit your questions early contained in the day, the american trolls come on-line round one or 2 o'clock SA time and then they hammer the shuttle sections, not basically SA's one. once you've arguable questions, do not go away them in one day. also do not make acquaintances or followers with human beings you do not understand. They use this as a marker to troll you. once you've a TC badge, be better carefull, because they warfare to objective you even better.

No, I gave up making new year resolutions years ago as I never stuck to them.
Nowadays, if I want to do something I do it any time of year, I'm more likely to stick to it then because it's my decision and not because tradition dictates.

I made a resolution to not bite my fingernails, it's working so far! I read somewhere that if you just stop smoking after a sudden decision (sober one of course) then it's more likely to work.

My kid planned to write her world history book within four years. So that's a big leap. And she also wants to take up German too. All at the age of 16, going to be 17 this year. So that's a really tall set of plans.
