The guy above me is correct. It's intuitive.

Take the khafia, fold it into a triangle. Lay it on top of your head, with the bottom of the triangle, where there is no fringe, and the seem of the fold is across your forehead at a comfortable distance from your eyes. Now there should be a black tope that came with it. It seems to big. That's because it is.

Make it into a figure 8 and fold the figure 8 over itself, making two circles. Now push that on your head so that it is holding the khafia on your head snuggly. Adjust it so the band doesn't look twisted in the front, and the seem of the triangle you made isn't too low on your face or looking like a weird lace like on a Betty Crocker apron. (That happens. It takes practice.)

Now, if you want to engage in some rousing resistence activity, place your left hand on the right side of your head, holding the khafia smooth against the side of your face and ear. Take the right corner that was made when you put the band on your head and draw it across your face. Tuck the corner underneath the other side of the khafia under the band near the back. Do the same with the other side, but make sure you tuck the corner in the band in the back on the outside. If you try to do both corners tucked in the inside you'll have a knot on your face and look stupid on CNN.

Now you are ready for some resistance.

if you mean a gutrah, you fold in half, making a triangle, the point goes in the back, straight part goes in the front, "tie the band"? I don't know what you mean, On the top of Ghutra , doubled black rope-like cord called igal is worn in order to hold ghutra in place.
