i was told by some alknowing peanut that az does not an open container law

Arizona does have an open Container law under Section 154 of 23 U.S.C. (same law for 36 states)
"apply to all vehicle occupants except for passenger of vehicles designed, maintained, or used primarily for the transportation of people for compensation (such as buses, taxi cabs, and limousines ) or living quarters of motor homes.
