ART IS AS ART WAS, you are looking for something that is totaly subjective, you know the standard format, (i know what i like and thats not art.) art is about communication of ideas, beliefs wether it be through the pallette or the film or the written word as in poetry, it is has alive has it always was, you call it contempory because it is a wider spectrum of genres, the visual art has moved on but not by that much London as a city is vibrant with art from the international exhibitions to the homegrown talent, there is something for every type of art you enjoy. check out Tate Brritain, awesome in its breadth and diversity. Art is a reflection of the times in which it was created. The labels--or "isms"--are often created a generation later--sometimes longer. Art has always been a means of social commentary. If you want to know the state of our world, look at our art. It's a great barometer.

Then you are looking in the wrong place. I suggest The Times. Art is supposed to be enlightening and entertaining. An "ism" takes all the enjoyment out of it. It will then have been analysed to death or you are looking at works by artists long since dead.
