The knowledge is only required in some places like London and is better than satnav as you are able to concentrate on your driving instead of listening for directions from a box which do not take account of the traffic conditions.

I think it varies from area to area. A friends husband has just become a cabbie in Cardiff and he took the test.

Depends entirely on the area you live, London certainly still has the 'knodge'.

Black cabbie drivers still have to do the knowledge. Mini cab drivers have never had to do it anyway xxx
