Odd that you use the term "starsigns," which is not one I am familiar with in astrology. Perhaps you mean "sun signs," the large Zodiac divisions based on a person's birthday, which divide the entire population into 12 signs, roughly corresponding to 12 months, from about the 21s of the month to the 21st of the following month.
No, they don't mean much. After all, that is not a lot of narrowing down to detail, if it fits 1/12 of all the people in the world. To do a real astrological reading, one needs a chart which records where the sun and the moon and all the planets were when you were born. This "natal chart," as it is called, is then the basis for all subsequent readings, which chart where all those same heavenly bodies are at the time of the reading and relate them to where they were when you were born, and possibly other critical times in your life, such as when you married.
It can also be compared to another person's chart, such as a prospective marriage partner.
But all of this is professional work, and does not come cheap. You will probably find computer programs that can do the actual chart on the Internet, maybe even free, but the interpretation is an art, and needs to be done by a human. I cannot imagine a program sophisticated enough to replace a human astrologer, although that may be want of imagination on my part.

Starsigns are a nice distraction and good humor. Research has proven that horrorscopes and the like are all a bunch of entertainment. Have you REALLY looked at them? Do they seem rather general to you? Could you give your reading to a completely different person/starsign and have the same, "This is Me!" reaction? Research after research has said yes. Yes it is way too general and yes, a classroom full of students all said the horrorscopes they were given really sounded like it was written for them. It was then revealed that everyone in the same group of 300 students in the lecture hall had the exact same horrorscope. How many different starsigns/sunsigns do you think participated?
Personally, I like to read mine at the end of the day. Most of the time they are completely wrong, but it is good entertainment.

i'm a gemini- i have had a million severe relationship with a sag. a million-with a libra- that should be my longest, 2 yrs. except that no. i have had emotions and intimate reciprication from others that didnt very last that lengthy yet I dont imagine the scale of the relationship concerns at the same time as it contains what replaced into severe and what replaced into frivolous. at times issues in simple terms dont workout consultation searching on the circumstances or the problem. at the same time as i replaced into youthful I didnt take relationship as heavily. Now that i have been damage and held down in a posessive relationship (on my exs behalf) i ought to truly be unmarried and look ahead to that particular man or woman that i think a deep, divine connection with than be unhappy and dedicated to a loser. sufficient stated. lol.
