1- You have to be very very motivated
2- You have to train a lot on the SAP modules
3- You need to pass the certification
4- You have to create a good resume
5- You need to find a good project
6- On the project you need to do something interesting and learn SAP things.
7- After 2 years SAP experience you are a SAP consultant.
8- After 3 years you can ask a decent salary.
9- After 5 years you can start working as a freelancer

You could study SAP-FICO even without your background. What matters is where you do it from. If you take the course from SAP ATC [in collaboration with Siemens] you are almost assured of a job on course completion. But the catch is, it costs about Rs. 250,000.
