He was just great in Pirates of the Caribbean. I totally loved his character. However, he had already proven himself with Edward Scissorshands and Donnie Brasco, among others. Well, needless to say, he really deserved the People critics' award for the best actor!!!

he's been tremendous in almost each and everything i have considered him in, yet i detect it slightly stressful that he has an automatic cost ticket for each optimum function in a Tim Burton movie. for example, Burton is rumoured to be directing Sweeney Todd, and as if par the direction, Johnny Depp is up for the call function. basically desire he'd solid better imaginatively.

He's such a campy actor...but I LOVE campy acting. He's great! I'd really like to see him do Shakespeare!
