C banding- suitable for plants
G banding - suitable for animals
N banding- suitable for plants

Q and C banding techniques are most commonly used for plant and animal chromosome band staining, however although G banding is helpful for animals it doesn't work so well for plants. N banding is less common for both but appears to be more useful in plant karyotyping than in animal.
