How do I close my AOL email account?

I do not have AIM, I just have the free email account. I no longer want it and I am having a hard time trying to delete it. What do I do?

I DO NOT have AOL internet service. Just the free email....I went to the AOL website and made the account a LONG time ago....now I want to close the account.

try to contact AOL technical support by phone, here is the details:

So, make the call, tell them you want to cancel, verify you account, and here goes.

I see, you are using Free acounts then, Ok, just leave it for about 8 weeks or something without signing in and AOL will cancel it automatically.

I would NOT use AOL IF IT WAS the last choice on earth. I would rather use Smoke Signals to send messages. Good luck fighting with them, you are going to need it.
