gave laptop to someone for clearout and it has came back with no sound . says no sound driver installed. advised to download drivers but clueless as to how.
can download music and have media player just no sound.
can someone give me step by step instructions as to what i need and what to do?

If you have the driver cd just install the driver from the cd.
If you dont have the driver cd but know what sound card you have go to the manufacturer's website and download and install the driver from there.
If you dont know your sound card, download the program from the link that will detect your soundcard. Then go to the manfacturer's website and download and install the soundcard from there.

Can't give an exact link without knowing more about the laptop, what lptop is it?
Go to the manufacturers website, normally there is a bit where you can download the most up to date drivers for the PC.
Sometimes windows update website has drivers, choose advanced update and select hardware on the left.
If you go in to system properties > Hardware > Device manager it will list all your hardware and put a yellow symbol next to any without drivers, you can look up the specific graphics card through a wbsearch

First you must know the brand of your laptop. If is is from the Known Manufacturer, go to their website and search for the sound driver, built for that particular laptop model. If you don;t know the brand name, you should search yahoo for any software which then will try to recognize the type of the sound chip.
Try searching yahoo for the respective laptop brand and model.
