You have some pretty good hardware in there, however, you didn't mention the amount of video memory you have. I think media centre PC's have a good graphics processor so it shouldn't be sluggish. Maybe you are running too many applications at one time, check your taskbar and shutdown some of those programs(on the bottom right, by default, near the clock). 1.6 GHz is ok but you can upgrade it, although that might terminate the warranty of your PC.

It depends manily on what you want to use your pc for.
for example "gaming" you would definatly a GPU (graphic prosessing unit) cause it sounds like it intergrated and an extra 512Mb ram would go a stray cause of these more demanding applications. The CPU isnt that bad, but its most likely the reason its sluggish with norten though so it would help to upgrade. Hope this helps, how ever you could try to overclock it which is free hpw ever it can be damaging if its not done proprerly.

1.6ghz isn't very fast. You may want to upgade to a 2 or even 2.5ghz. Try adding some more RAM. I have 512MB of RAM aswell and I think it's slow. Try 1GB or 2Gb if you want to go into deathcom four! Keep up with uninstalling unused files. Try and keep the total space you use to a minimun. Try ZIPing them: www.winzip.com . I hope this helped. You may (if you have a large budget) want to upgrade to a Celeron Duo 2 prosseser. They run 40% faster than any other prosseser.

right this is how you speed up your computer. Put it in the back seat off a car. drive down the motorway at 70mph, now that's fast for a PC. OK OK OK. i tell ya.
Don't download crap from limewire or anything like that, you get hidden stuff put on your computer and that's just from limewire. defrag once in a while, clean out temp files, and clear history. That can help making your PC run faster. Works for me. i had my PC going at 95 mph once lol
loss norton that really slows down your computer and install AVG its free from avg.com, but Norton will defo slow down your pc

try upgrading your ram. but most probably its the media center operating sysem.. its very taxing and takes up too much resources... so try shifting to another OS like WinXP or somehitng. even if that doesn't help you try upgrading the Processor which i anyways don't think is any bad.

The cheapest and best way for now is to double the memory to 1Gb.
