Oh it's true honey. It's a lot better these days with sexual harrassment laws, but if you are young and pretty, you can bet there's alway some prick that thinks he has a right to make a pass at you.
Try to avoid situations like that where you are alone with someone who has seemingly been giving you the glares or you sense is a bit of a perve. You can bet first chance they get you alone they might try something so avoid situations like office parties where there is drinking going on or going away on a business meeting etc.
In the modelling field I expect there are still those who expect you to "scratch their back" if they have a favour they can do for you that you need.
It isn't always that way, but you have to be fool to think you can squeak by life without someone trying to make a move on you. You just have to learn to handle the situation in a way that doesn't compromise you and your chances for employment too.
There are certain women who are unaware of their sexuality and some men see that naivety and take advantage.
That's why it's important to know from a young age and talk to your daughters about how to handle these situations when they arise.
Frankly, my point of view is, if you got it, DONT flaunt it, because all you do is attract the smut.
You don't have to put your goods on display for everyone just because you're going for the modelling and acting field. How you dress, act and project yourself will help you a lot in that field especially. I would think it's ripe with perves expecting favours.
Most men (and women) are intelligent enough to know that it can cost them their entire career (I'm sure Clinton learned that!) so I doubt as many pull that these days. Luckily I can work from home so don't have to face that crap anymore. I actually worked with construction inspectors so after a while they became like big brothers and kept the wolves at bay.

no. though it could depend on your perspective.
harassment is, very often, in the eye of the one being harassed. a guy you don't from work like asking you on a date is 'sexual harassmnet' to one woman, but if you like him, it's not perceived as harassment.
while yes, i have been harassed, i think that in the majority of situations, it comes out of situations (like the example above) where the other person is just trying to be funny, friendly, get to know you. as you get to know your co-workers, a friendly comfort is a nice thing to evolve. and when people's relationships have a personal (vs. professional) aspect to them, people begin telling jokes and such. work is not a fun place to be everyday if everyone has t be very formal all the time, right?
so a lot of the time (and in the few cases where i experienced it) it's a matter of telling the person that they are making you uncomfortable, that you don't like tht type of humor, don't think you are friendly enough to touch, or whatever the problem is. 90% of the time the person will back off and leave you alone. IF they don't. THEN it's true harassment i say....
though i have to add: modeling and acting? expect to be harassed. the people with power in those industries don't have anything to lose if you say no to them and are in little danger of you sueing them, etc. (as you have no money in coparison to them and would ruin your chances of getting jobs with somoene else) so i would guess that your industry is particularly rife with harassment. prepare to be propositioned...

Women do NOT have to through sexual harassment for anything. In the USA there are laws to protect women against this. I never suffered sexual harassment in my job. I would slap a sexual harassment charge on a man he wouldn't know what hit him till he was in jail. No woman should have to put up with men who can't control their hormones. A real man shows restraint.

Yes....
Unfortunately, the further you get from a regulated society the more you see women having to 'dress nicer', 'act sweeter', and overlook a sometimes blatant sexual bigotry.
Some women tell themselves that they are just 'using the system' to get ahead. But what they are doing in reality is making the men in power realize that they can truly get away with anything.

It is a generalisation to say 'in any profession'. However, to certain extent it is true in some of the professions like nursing, teaching and most of the goverment establishments.

Only if they allow it to happen. Inevitably there will be morons in any business. It's up to the individual themselves to put a stop to it.
Harrassment of any sort, sexual, bullying, whatever, corrodes productivity, it's bad management and shows that a manager is faling his staff, failing in his duty of care.
Remeber you will only be treated how you allow yourself to be treated, yu do not have to put up with it.
Ultimately sexual harrassment or any harrasment is bad for any business, it hits their profits when staff quite rightly take them to tribunals.

These days, in the U.S. anyway, sexual harassment is everywhere and goes both ways. I don't think I have ever worked in a place and not been sexually harassed.
