It can vary from person to peson. For first pregnancies they suggest 18 weeks plus to feel first movements, but can be sooner in subsequent pregnancies. BUT you can sometimes feel movements earlier.
Even though it is "more likely" you will feel early movement if you are slim, I have ummm "significant extra padding" and felt movement at only 11 weeks! I thought I was imagining it but there are a LOT of women out there who have felt movements that early.
However, don't worry if you can't feel baby for quite a while, as long as the doctor says all is fine, you will feel him when he is ready. Good luck

I felt my first baby move at 15 weeks (I weighed 285 at the start of that pregnancy) and my second move at 18 weeks. At first it feels like really delicate bubbles, hard to notice if you're not sitting still for long periods of time. Don't be surprised if you feel a movement and then nothing for a couple of weeks...that happens a lot, not just to overweight moms but to all pregnant women, and is okay that early in the pregnancy.
As for when your partner will be able to feel the baby move through your belly, that depends on your shape, how active the baby is and where your placenta is. My husband felt our first baby kick at 26 weeks and the second at 22 weeks.

Over weight people tend to feel movement later than say, a very slender person. However, I am overweight and felt mine at 16 weeks. Doctors say that you will feel the baby between 16-22 weeks generally. If you are extremely overweight you may feel the baby closer to the 20-22 week mark. Just be patient, you will feel him soon!

I was almost 21 weeks before I felt the first movements. It's like bubbles bursting in your belly. I can't describe it any other way. I thought it sounded strange but it makes complete sense when you feel it for the first time. If it's your first baby it could take a while. It's usually the second baby you feel moving sooner.

I'm slightly under tall for my weight!!
With my 1st 18weeks
This 1 (my 2nd) felt something going on in there occasionally from 13weeks, i'm also 15 weeks. I think if you've had sickness and are now over it and feel good you start to worry why you feel so well till you do feel something. Usually around 17-22weeks for first. My movement usually happens when i'm sat quite still or in bed. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy you could have him or her 07/07/07.
