Taiwan is pretty progressive . There is a large Gay community here.

For sure, but it seems to be more a female thing in Taiwan.

I am aware of it and friends of mine are gay. being hetero and married thats about all I know, but there are many pubs and bars all over the island that hold 'gentlemen's nights' and there is definetly some lesbian/gay venues in Taipei.
