Most babies are eating solid foods before then. If he is gaining weight well, and everyone is comfortable with this arrangement though, I don't think it is a problem. If you are really unsure, ask your pediatrician. If you are looking to start solids more, then just keep offering them. He will accept them eventually. Breast milk doesn't pass Vitamin D onto babies very well, so if you will continue to breastfeed exclusively, I would suggest a D vitamin supplement. Vitamin D is necessary in the absorption of calcium.

My 15 month old still wakes a couple of times a night to nurse. Even more when she is teething. Completely fine! Her pedi knows all about her habits and still recommends we keep breastfeeding until we're ready to stop. And about the just starting to eat solids, that's also fine, some babies just want that good ol boobie juice! Before a year old it's purely for practice, your milk should be his main source of nutrition. My daughter also nurses every 3 to 4 hours during the day AND eats plenty of solids and she's perfectly happy and healthy! Congratulations on making it this far!

Every baby is different as long as your baby weighs enough you shouldn't worry breast milk was designed by you to be the most nutritious way to feed your baby if your worried try to give him homemade apple sauce and cooked carrots and foods that you eat everyday make sure you don't salt it or put extra sugar on anything the closest you can get the foods you feed him, to how they originally are, the better they will be for him also it encourages healthy eating in the future for him . He will learn to like foods prepared the healthy way.Oh and don't take breastfeeding away until you feel its time I have 3 children and they all quit when they were ready 1 at one 2 at 10 months and 3 at almost 2and a half They all have their own personalities and gave up when it was time for them to (its one thing I'm most proud of being able to do for them and their development ) Have fun! Your at a fun age and it goes by so quickly

My mother (co sleeping breastfeeding mom) went through this with my sister... at the same age as your son, she described it as her "catching up" during the night, being that she was all interested in new stuff during the day (food, lights, toys, body parts etc.) and would seriously focus on eating at night. Perfectly normal, at least in my family ;)
Now my sister was one of those babies who would "find" the boobie, mom didn't even have to wake up to feed her half the times.

I'm going to answer even though the other answers are all great. I'm in the same situation and I believe my son is in a habit, rather than needing it. I've started to offer more 2nd foods during the day (he's 8 months & weighs 23# & is 26"L)and he seems to be taking to it, and water from a cup. I've tried giving my son formula to start the weaning process, but he doesn't like any of them. For now though I'm going to let him take the lead. Usually, when they start walking and being more active, even the night feedings will diminish because they will be so plumb tired they won't be waking up :-) Hang in there !! (my other 6yr & 4yr did this)

he's probably got into a habit more than anything, just loving the nearness of you and convenience!
i co-slept with my daughter, and she would feed when ever (in the middle of the night it's too hard to keep track of the time!).
when my daughter didn't show any interest in starting food, my health nurse advised skipping all the pureed stuff and going straight to normal food, ie, pasta, toast, soft steamed vegies. and she was right. my daughter just jumped straight in.
maybe your son isn't getting enough food during the day so is compensating at night. try the more advanced food and he may also enjoy them more.
but don't panick. if he's a healthy weight, he's getting enough. just gradually try introducing some changes.

It is if they are not eating solids. Liquid does not fill a tummy up. The average 11 month old does eat several solid meals a day and should not have to eat at night.

Yes, its normal for babies to still feed several times a night. I breastfeed mine till they were two and as they co-slept they'd judt help themselves. So its perfectly normal. Good on you for breastfeeding and co-sleeping.

it is nice you have tried an excellent sort of nipples as which could help. ought to he attempt to take solids quickly? perchance those sitting him ought to furnish him toddler foodstuff - rice cereal mixed with milk? Cereal must be mixed with breast milk or formulation. Then he has some foodstuff interior the tummy? additionally, ought to he nod off with rocking, binkie, in spite of skill the sitter ought to get him to sleep, then take out binkie and slip in milk as quickly as asleep? I additionally had some bottle problems with my kiddies. in spite of the undeniable fact that I presented bottles 3-4 weeks to help them settle for it, they did no longer like it plenty. there have been days the place they does no longer get plenty milk till I have been given abode. If he feeds good till now you go away, and you feed him once you get abode, he won't go through if he misses a feeding or no remember if it is previous due. might or no longer that's greater efficient to no longer attempt the bottle as he gets so disappointed and purely occupy him different approaches, or permit him sleep? assure the sitter it is positive. Then feed once you get abode? purely some recommendations. wish one among them could help!
