i am not a heroine. i know my limitations so that my love for my family and friends comes first.......i would be willing to give my life for 1 billion people or even for 1 million people but not my families and friends lives.

I choose my family and friends because I know them and they are good people. I do not know those billion people and therefore would not have a problem making that decision. It would be a much better decision if I could pick which 1 billion.

Sorry world, I choose my friends & family over a billion strangers (even over 10 billion). Have to save the people I know & love before people that I have no connection to. I would miss them too much if they were gone. "One billion people" is just a statistic I can't relate to. My friends & family that I love & who love me mean more to me...Luckily I would probably never have to make such a choice! The fate of the world doesn't rest in my hands.

I guess my friends would really not want to be my friends at that instant... but then while they may not like it, if they were my friends they'd understand.
Oh, and sorry Mom, Dad.
No, question. The billion. I'm pretty sure even objectivists could not equate the lives of my maybe 50 loved ones with 1,000,000,000 other lives.
Peace

I would keep the billion alive and then join my family. I do have faith that there is existance beyond this life and we all understand that death, whether we choose it or not, is inevitable.
I would not want to live with my family knowing I had allowed 1,000.000,000 people to die...nor would they wish to live with me. If I let this many people die, I would no longer be allowed home for turkey day. How could I have so little faith in their faith?

i'd go for family and friends just because i think the world could do with a billion less people and we'll end up over populating ourselves to extinction i.e using up the worlds resources, mass famine/poverty ,so might as well keep the people i know.

I would choose for the lives of my friends and family to live. Thinking logically, i could never sacrifice something like that, it would cause me too much pain. Being honest, i would much rather inflict incredible pain upon many than to receive it myself.

Friends and family. Simply put if I've never met them, they don't matter and I won't notce theiy're gone. You're not supposed to cae about total strangers and certainly you don't take them into consideration over people you actualy care about.
