Well, it's more of a sport than some already in the Olympics which are not sports at all eg: synchronised swimming (the biggest joke to ever hit the pool)

So in comparison, although darts is a game it is far closer to being a sport than synchronised swimming, maybe it should be included.

No.

In regional competitions such as the recent Asian Games, it makes sense to have less common, regional and non-olympic sports, eg. Sepaktakraw. But expecting to call something a world sport which has no worldwide appeal is unrealistic. Darts isn't played widely enough to be in any regional competition.

That's why baseball is being dropped from the summer olympics (only 20 competitive countries) while rugby is likely to be added (more than 50 play competitively, including the US).

Have a look at some of the events; odds are, you've never even heard of some of these sports, let alone seen them, (eg. Wushu, Kabaddi, Sepaktakraw) or some aren't considered sports by most parts of the world (eg. bodybuilding, bowling, cue sports aka billiards, chess).

The world's biggest non-olympic competition (90 countries) is the Commonwealth games (olympics, about 200). And in terms of the athletes competing, it's only just shy of olympic calibre; in track and field, it IS olympic calibre.

Other major regional competitions are the Pan-American (42 countries) and Francophone Games (56 countries).

No because not that many countries play it seriously and it really isn't a sport the Olympics will consider.
