This cousin, although I think he means well, thinks he is the most thoughtful person around. There are instances at school where it's like a curse to be related to him. I'll be in the middle of a conversation of with a friend [who doesn't like him] and he'll think I'm evil because I won't talk to him.
On other occasions, like when me and my mom go to the stores or something and we ask him to tag along, he starts asking other people if they want to come too. He thinks he's being polite by taking everybody's wishes into consideration, but he isn't the one planning the outting, and he doesn't take it into consideration how this other person he's invited doesn't really know us all that well "but it's okay because he's your third cousin".

There are times I'd like to point out these faults, but then he counters it with all of my faults. I don't know how to deal with this. Is this my problem or his? How do I figure out how to work in his mentality?
