Or should I just get a cardbus or USB external one?

If you have an internal tuner, you can use the laptop like a Tivo recording TV for later viewing. The USB connection is too slow to support direct to disk saves. I had a Toshiba P25 w/ 17" monitor with Media Center Edition and built in tuner. I loved it for 3 years. you could change channels with the remote control, or use the remote to give Powerpoint presentations across the room. Once recorded to disk, you can also edit videos or use a screen capture in presentations.

Both internal and external have advantages. I would suggest going with the internal version so you don't have to carry something else to carry.

With that said, do you really think you'll watch much TV on a laptop?
