Recently a new record was set for the highest point play in a tournament game.

QUIXOTRY was played on a Triple-Triple for 365 points. It's now officially the highest point play made in a tournament game.

BEZIQUE is the best opening play made by Sam Kantimathi.

And while BENZOXYCAMPHORS would indeed score you 1830 points, that was done by purposely setting up the board in such a way that that play would be possible. The chances of ACTUALLY playing that in a tournament is nigh near to impossible, but it is theoretically do-able.

"The highest known theoretically possible score for a single play under American tournament Scrabble rules (OSPD+MWCD) is 1,778 points for joining 8 already-played tiles to form the word OXYPHENBUTAZONE across three triple-word-score squares, while simultaneously extending 7 specific already-played words to form new words. In the Scrabble FAQ this construction is credited to Dan Stock [according to John Chew]."

I checked, and it turns out that BENZOXYCAMPHORS is not found in any of the main dictionaries used in official tournaments worldwide (the OSPD, TWL, or SOWPODS). The word is, instead, found in some other dictionaries -- along with some of the other words used in the play (like FLOWERETH).

So, the answer to this question hinges on what dictionary(s) you intend to use during the game.

I scored 212 pts spelling JAGGEDER once. I crossed 2 triple word scores. I used the ending D, or E, of another word and made my word. That's the biggest I've seen. If you make an 8-letter word (or more) and you cross 2 triple word scores, that definitely puts you in a position to score really high. Of course, if you can think of any 8-letter words with an X, J, or Z in it, then you're golden

That depends on the placement of the word on the board. I'm guessing offhand, maybe "pizzaz" because of the three "z"s.
