As someone said earlier the minimum rest period is 11 hours, but this does not mean that YOU CANNOT choose to work within the 11hour slot, just your employer cannot request you too

if your in Britain i think you are only legally obliged to work 37 1/2 hours. for shift work you can decide to do double shifts if you want. thats 16 hours and then an 8 hour break. but most shifts operate on cycles. 8-5 5-12 and 12-8. if your being messed about and being ordered to do extra hours take it up with your shop steward or company rep or the CAB. the days of tugging your forelock at the manager and calling him sir are long gone. we! are the cog that turns the wheel that turns the shaft that turns the cog.

8 hours, for places that have three shifts.
Those places generally have overlapping shifts, second shift show up in time to relieve first shift. there really is no time between shifts.

In the US your employer has to give you 8 hours between the time you clock out and the time you clock back in.

it would depend on your working conditions and health and safety regulations.these can differ depending on the job, you would have to get hold of a copy of these or if you are in a union ask them.
