Couldn't have answered it better myself:

"God designed the world's creatures to fit the place where they are supposed to live. Ducks are well-suited to live in and around water. Like a pair of flippers on a scuba diver, webbed feet help ducks paddle through the water. If you watch them swim around in a pond, you can see God's wisdom in giving them those flippers!"

Their feet are webbed so they can move through water, like a paddle for a boat and so they can walk through/over murky, wet dirt with out sinking in.
