usually lag is a sign of the inability of your computer to process information quick enough, which would mean you would need a new processor or more likely more memory, both which cost about the same as a graphics card. there are programs that can utilize certain graphic capabilities and ignore others to give you better gameplay and less detail or vice versa. but keep in mind the world of computer gaming is moving at a rapid rate and probably sooner rather than later you will need a new graphics card

I can tell you that the only solution I know of is to buy a new video card or a new processor unit the Two largest makers of computer processors are AMD and Intel.
Another solution that may help reduce lag is putting additional RAM in your system however make sure you know the correct type for your system before you purchase additional RAM because the RAM chips are not interchangeable like the older PCI 2.1 card slots are. There are 3 types of RAM on the market today the SDRAM is the oldest type still around then there is the somewhat newer DDR type, and then the newest kind on the block known as DDR2 RAM your local computer shop will know more and is better equiped to help you than I am. good luck fixing that game lag problem.

you can overclock your graphics card to a higher speed but this would overheat it more and probably use more power,

not recomended though....
