I believe you are asking about Natural Family Planning Methods, such as basal body temperature. It is charting your cycle, temperature, etc and using that as a basis of when you are ovulating and choosing not to have sex during those times. It's also called the rhythmic family planning method. These are among the only birth control methods advocated by the Catholic Church. You may be able to get a brochure or information from a Catholic book store or Catholic Family Services.

The Mayo clinic has the following link on using basal body temperature for contraception. http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/birth-control/BI99999/PAGE=BI00027

Mayo Clinic Link to Cervical Mucus

Another natural family planning link

Here are some links to this information, please remember it does not protect you against STD's and it also has a failure rate (so do artificial birth control methods) it takes a lot of planning and monitoring.

I'm sorry some people chose to be so rude because you were asking a question. After all this is a place for all questions not just those they agree with. Natural family planning is another birth control method, but it is usually only practiced by married couples who want to plan families without artificial means and are ready for children if it fails.

No, that is a myth. Even if you don't have sex when you ovulate there is a chance of getting pregnant. The best method is contraceptives. Most people who have sex with the no protection method are called parents. And as the person said below the only other safe method is not to have sex at all.

the cheap way that I am aware of is to know your own gestation cycles, a former gf's brother and sister in law never use protection and avoid pregnancy by timing gestation as opportunities to enjoy while they are not seeking another child yet.
when exactly is the time of reduced potential, they are celebant to one another and do not fear STDs nor use contraceptive of any form to take away from the experience or pollute thier bodies or use any sort of tricks or alternate methods other than the timing to do so that will not result in pregnancy.

I can not believe the person who said natural family planning is a myth, the Mayo clinic provides information on it, it's obviously not a myth.

That said it isn't the most reliable method, but for those whose beliefs prohibit them from using other forms of birth control I guess it's better then nothing.

It does not protect against Aids, STD's, etc.

When not to have sex....when you are not comfortable with the situation. About not getting pregnant and not taking birth control pills or contraceptions, one of two things the guy needs to be fixed, and if you can't trust him your tubes need to be tied.

never have sex unless you're protecting yourself. do you want an STD? a baby? if you are listening to that crap, please don't have sex. just don't do it. or else we'll see you back in the "pregnancy" section. please be smart and careful.
