Hip-hop isn't a genre of music.
It's a lifestyle, born from the 4 basic elements of: graffiti (tags), breakin' (break dancing from the ol school days), DJing, and free styling...
Rap is a genre.
Lyricism is a genre.
Hip-Hop is an art.
Where most of you get mixed up is thinking 50 Cent is a representation of Hip-Hop. Ironic I can probably find some of you in the clubs shaking your asses to Juvenile's "Back That *** Up", or DMX's "Party Up", but yet..."hip hop suxs"...
Disagree is you like, but learn the difference first.

Rap and hip-hop are different, but related. R and B is nothing like either of them (it's music, as opposed to being a monolog or spoken word, like rap and hip-hop).
Do I like hip-hop? NO -- I like music.

my brothers gf bought me a atmosphere cd. I really like it and they never play them on the radio or on cable.
