Welcome to the "joys" of parenting. Be patient. As a Father of five, I can promise you that it gets better, then it gets worse, then better again. Hey this is truly a rollercoaster ride. These little ones con us into thinking that all is well at about eight or nine weeks, some make us suffer for another four weeks making us get NO rest until three months, but then secretly regret what they have put us through so they chill out for no reason for about three weeks. That is just enough time for our defences to go down, and then "yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!!!!!!" all over again for no reason.
We are on edge all of the time, but it all passes, and we find ourselves doing it allover again.
BTW-Number six is coming to my house this Fall. Hang in there. Children are a blessing! I wish you well.

Something you learn as you go is to trust your instincts. Have you got a 24hr helpline available in your area? Ask yourself a couple of questions...Has bub had enough to eat? How long did she feed for? If she has fed for about 20min or so you can be pretty sure she's had a descent feed. What might be going on is she is might have wind or maybe she might have some form of reflux. Your doctor will help you out there. Her nappy might need a change or she could be too hot or too cold. If you think she has fed enough & she doesn't seem to have wind or need a change she might just want some extra cuddles. Remember, she has been all snug, safe & warm for 9mths so this is as new for her as it is for you.The key is to try, & trust me i know it's hard, but try to remain as calm as you can only because she will pick up on your tension & probly cry a whole lot more. Hope everything works out for you.

Try putting her down to sleep while she is awake, but tired. I do this with my son. She may be waking up and be disoriented because you were the last thing she remembers before falling asleep. That and she is probably waking to eat if it has been more than an hour or so. Breastfed babies eat more often than formula fed babies as breast milk digests easier than formula.

CONSTIPATION! Colic! My daughter had bad problems with constipation, it was made worse by the fact that I was breastfeeding her & supplementing with formula, we tried giving her prune juice, nothing.... Glycerine suppositries saved the day at least once a week (but you can't give it to her to often) ...
I eventually had to put her on only Soy formula....
I hope this helps

she's 5 weeks. stay strong. this is normal. if you are concerned by all means call your dr. she may just be having some gas pains. you can try to swaddle her, sway her, put on some white noise, vaccuum, even a good warm bath before bed will help. but don't get at your wits end just yet, the fun of parenting has just begun and you can lose all of your wits just yet. good luck.

Do you mean she is getting formula supplements? Maybe that is upsetting her tummy.
