Just so everyone here knows, a person will NOT stop drinking because of outside reasons. Also, a person will NOT stop consumption of alcohol for someone else or even if they kill people in a vehicle accident...just so you know that much.
NOW, Hubby needs to decide to stop drinking and he will not until he has quit his own personal rock bottom. When HE is ready to quit, then he will seek the help he needs...or you'll need an intervention if you are still around.
Threats of getting a stud to take care of you will NOT work. Health reasons will NOT work. Why not? Because if you find a stud muffin he will only drink more to drown those sorrows of losing you. Health reasons mean diddly squat if they are not currently making him feel the effects. Even Korsakov's Syndrome (the disease one acquires from long-term drinking) will not make him quit.
What you CAN do is start to get a little sneaky. Take a picture or two of him every night when he gets the eye-rolls. If possible, get the date imprint on the pictures. Put one pic per night into a shoebox. When it gets full enough...leave it on his dresser after he goes to sleep so that he'll find them when he is sober. You can also tape record him when his speech gets slurry. Play it back when he is sober so he can actually hear himself speaking. At lease these things may get him thinking about how his drinking affects you...and your families. If you have kids, let them see dad drunk and tell them that this is genetic and they carry a gene for alcoholism. That it is a choice whether they drink or not, and to choose as a wise person whould choose.
Oh yeah, he may get upset or downright angry. But he can't argue with a shoebox full of pictures and recordings of how he sounds when he's had a few.
It is very difficult to watch someone you love making the 'wrong' choices. Very hard indeed. But all in all, you will need to let him fall down before he'll get up on his own.
Best to you and I'm around...

Counseling for both of u first and foremost. It's obvious u love him very much and he needs to know this fact. He is on the way to getting cirrhosis of the liver from his obvious everyday lifestyle of consuming alcohol. He is already an alcoholic and will be the first to deny it.
Secondly u go to Alcoholics Anonymous' program called Al-anon for family members of alcoholics to learn how to help ur loved one and ease ur problems without making it seem that u r being pushy, hopefully ur hubby will catch on.
Thirdly, if u leave him to his own destruction get a hefty life insurance so that u can life debt free for the rest of ur life and have him pay for it out of his money cuz it's the least he can do for committing suicide and leaving u alone with ur children and bills after his death which will no doubt be very soon within the next five to ten yrs. for sure, so best to prepare ur self. Take it from one with much experience and a recovering alcoholic that comes from a long line of alcoholics. One of the Alcoholic Anonymous sayings r "Jails, Institutions, and Death" this is what is awaiting ur husband.

hi dear...drinking everyday causes chirosis of the liver and weakens the liver overall, it can also aggravate or cause diabetes and hypertention!
and it causes a condition called pancreatitis, which is extremely painful and no sure shot cure.
for him to have a healthy future,he needs to quit drinking everyday and save it for special occasions like bdays and new yrs etc.
instead of drinking every night take up smoe other activity, drag him for a walk , or take up some sport, people drink everyday out of habit and boredom!

A smoker AND a drinker ? (I think I would be so "out of there").
You should go to ALANON to find out how to cope with this behavior. Does he LIKE to look and act stupid? Talk to his doctor and also take a video of him like this. He probably thinks he's cute in this drunken state. And it's every night? You need to get yourself out of the house several nights a week, to distance yourself from his excesses! Then, when he falls down & can't get up, it might dawn on him that he's there by himself.
Good luck -- you're going to need it !

Excess alcohol KILLS every kind of cell in the body... EVERY kind... bone, brain, blood, muscle, liver, kidney... in other words, excessive drinking will eventually KILL YOU. If that isn't reason enough, I don't know what is.
