I belong to a special science class for 4 years. Based on my experiences, the only problem I encounterd is the expectations of the teachers and the lower sections. Some even consider us as geniuses which is a wrong impression. Our subjects are similar to them except that we have Advanced Chemistry, Research and Earth Science. Science is not a difficult subject although the lessons need a lot of understanding and discovery plus the observations and analysis of data.

Many beginning science students merely memorize knowledge, instead of understanding it and incorporating it into the pursue of more knowledge. Memorization is destructive; in the short run, it may help you pass a test, but as you progress you will need these base foundation knowledge, or science will just get harder for them, leading to more memorization.
