Playing with norms and expectations can be a useful communication tool. I'll call anyone 'dude' on occasion, with my tongue firmly in cheek.

I dunno...but I don't really care. I call my chicky friends dudes sometimes. Heh heh heh. But usually only when I am really excited sometimes. I'm trying to break myself of the habit.
