What happened is I bet you did not read instructions. Happened to me too. In the back are some some slots on the left side next to the cable plug. Well, depending on what you have as slave or master, you pull the little plug and slide it into the proper one. You might need some needle nose pliers. Now look at your old one and compare it to the new one. Normally, the second from the left is the slave and the third from the right is the master slot.

ok there is a extra wire more then the 2 used for a normal cd reader make sure its hooked up correctly then go to START>CONTROL PANEL>ADD HARDWARE and use wizard...if that doesnt work or you have tried that... CONTROL PANEL>ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS>COMPUTER MANAGMENT>DEVICE MANAGER>DISK DRIVES and see if it appears..right click on it and ENABLE , UPDATE, SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES...try all three maby it might help..if not go back to wherever you got it and ask to exchange for another or a different one. you shouldnt have any problems . also you might need some windows updates (sometimes devices depend on framework and such) as for sites you would have to visit the manufacturer of the cd burner for better drivers ...good luck. "gimmie a hammer and 5 min. i can fix any computer problem!"
