As far as I know, no one gets free health care. Even in Canada and Britian, they pay a monthly fee, not counting the increased tax rate's they pay.

In the United States, the only people besides the very poor who get free health care, are our soldiers.

Congressmen pay for thier health care just like anyone who works for a company with a health care plan does.

Universial health care in america is a growing issue, with some major issues that have to be solved before it could ever be put into effect.

Medicare spends about $5,000 per patient per year in America, so if everyone was provided a medicare style health care plan, your looking at a cost of about 1.5 trillion dollars a year.

Just for general information:

In 2005, the United States had 2.15 trillion dollars in tax revenue.

In 2005 the United States had 927.2 billion in individual income tax revenue and 278.3 billion in corporate tax revenue.

In 2005 the United States Government spent 577 billion on health care, 333 bill on Medicare, 181 bill on Medicaid and 65 bill on the Veterans Administration.

While the United states does spend more per capitia than any other country on health care now, finding a fair and equitable way to bring those private health care dollars into the federal coffers to fund a universial health care plan, is a major issue.

There are people who want different things when it comes to health care:

some just want a basic plan to pay for large expenses.
some want a plan like the average corporation provides.
some want a full featured plan that covers everything.
some only want to cover those not currently covered.
and some don't think the government should enter the health care field.

Oh no buddy you are getting a response and I agree emphatically.
This is a grave issue literally, thousands of people are dying everyday because of inadequate health care in America. The reason is because it is the Insurance Companies and their Lobby and the hold they have on our deficit. But don't forget who owns a big chunk of the Insurance Companies now? Foreign governments and the Banks too. We need to fight in Congress against the Insurance Companies and individual states and state government is the first place to fight. States can make the difference in health care for they get a Federal budget on the health programs. Congress and the Senate, and the House, do not pay into health care at all, they get their pensions and health care for free, that is correcto mundo, they do not pay Social Security either and they get a huge pension to our measely monthly checks of 1700 dollars maybe? They are so wrong to hold our medical back and they are expendible with your vote. Everyone should vote for only those that have a plan for health care to give to us what all American Born people are deserved of entirely and explicitly is free health care if necessary. And stop denying us our disability claims and giving it to the immigrants instead. Send them home and tough it out in their own country until we can save our own first. What do we tell our soldiers kill the enemy, and Congress says no we kill our own and then you kill the others. Why should we travel all the way to Iraq to fight the enemy when the enemy is right here.

Here in Canada we all have free health care...or at least it appears to be free on the surface (before you sort through all the tax allocations)
Most countries provide health care for all their residents. It's a very cruel nation that would let their people suffer and die just because they couldn't afford the best care possible.
I agree with you, everyone is entitled to be as healthy as possible in order to enjoy life.

If you explained the case we could understand. Now as it is you are only speaking on the use of three words; Free Health Care. Subsequently telling us that you are only entitled to Free Health Care and that no one can question your right and no one else can ask for the right because it is FREE. Who is the hypocrite? Think again.

There is not such a thing as free healthcare. You end up paying for it one way or another - thru taxes or quality of service
