Is it possible to have a wireless connection between 2 iMacs at a range of appr.3miles?

Only one of the computers has a dsl connection,at the other location no telephone lines are available

You'd need a directional antenna for that distance. Yagi antenna or "cantenna" should be good for a mile or more. With parabolic dishes at both ends and careful aiming you can get up to 22 miles or so, line of sight.

if you have line of sight you might be able to pull off using 802.11b with the proper equipment...
