A nucleus is the centre of an atom. It contains neutrons and protons. Neutrons are electrically neutral. Protons carry a positive change.
This positive charge is balanced by electrons which surround the nucleus. Electrons have a negative charge.
For example : -
Carbon
Has a nucleus containing 6 protons ands 6 neutrons.
An isotope of carbon
Has a nucleus containing 6 protons and 7 neutrons.
Notice the different number of neutrons. This does not affect carbon's reactivity. It only increases its atomic weight/mass.

atomic nucleus is the collection of protons and neutrons in the center of an atom that carries the bulk of the atom's mass and positive charge.
Cell nucleus, is a small circle in the middle of a cell which contains the cells DNA and is the control center of the cell* Nucleus (neuroanatomy), a central nervous system structure composed mainly of gray matter that mediates electrical signaling within a particular subsystem
Comet nucleus, the solid core of a comet
Galaxy nucleus, the central region of a galaxy
Ice nucleus, the center of an ice crystal
Cloud condensation nuclei, the basis for the development of a cloud droplet

The nucleus is the center core of a given object or group. You can have a nucleus of a company, a nucleus of a cell, of an atom, etc. The exact answer all depends on what exact element/item/group you are asking about.

A nucleus is the central part of an atom. It contains the protons(positively charged particles) and neutrons(neutral particles). Surrounding the nucleus the electron revolves. The nucleus is the core part of the atom where its entire mass is concentrated.

a nucleus is the centre of a cell, which controls it, like a brain, all cells have a nucleus, except a red blood cell, a nucleus contains membranes.

its original meaning was a kernel of a nut but the term was later used to explain the central point of a atom. but in a atom there is more than one nucleus, think something more like several, so it is more like nuclei than a nucleus if you are talking about atomics or its a nucleus if you are talking about a nut and kernel. it all sounds nuts to me.
