It is a laudable quality. You may try to do things in your own "excellent" way. But, do not expect others to reward you for your "excellent" works.

Service to ones nation takes on many forms. If you are engaged in some activity that serves your nations best interests and you excel at it, and you make good informed votes, Then, you are doing service.
